Larger STAR Exemption Available For Some Seniors

Area residents who will be turning 65 this year may be eligible for a larger STAR exemption than they think. – February 2013
Reassessment Doesn’t Mean Tax Increases For All

It’s been more than three decades since the city’s last reassessment, but residents will be receiving a disclosure notice in the mail with the newly reassessed value of their homes on March 1, according to city officials.  – February 2013.

The New Preliminary Assessed Values

As part of the Reassessment Project, the new preliminary full value assessments will be mailed to all property owners in the City of Troy beginning March 1, 2013.

The City of Troy, along with GAR Associates, Inc. will be offering informational classes beginning in March. The classes will focus on how the assessments were determined; a review of the notice property owners will receive; and how to prepare for the informal review process. Information regarding dates and times of the classes will be included with the notices. Please call 1-800-718-5149 for more information.
